Eid Al-Adha Mubarak!
Solidarity Foundation staff, our philanthropists and volunteers wish you happy Eid Al-Adha. We thank all those who made a sacrifice on this holy day and helped hundreds of poor and needy. You sacrificed for the Qurban 70.900 rubles (about $2300) on which sum 20 sheep and a cow were bought for the most underprivileged part of the population.
Our action Qurban-2009 has helped to provide additional food for some seriously ill patients of Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital, tuberculosis children-and-adolescent department of Medical Academy named after Sechenov, orphans in Solgany children’s asylum (Nizhny Novgorod region) as well as orphans attending Rehabilitation Arts Center “Maria’s Children” in Moscow.
Old people, poor students, families with dependent children and some lonely people were able to have a feast for the first time in many months – all thanks to your willingness to sacrifice!
We ask God Almighty to accept our sacrifice and to make it possible for us to continue our activities in the name of a fair and compassionate world.
10 days of Zul-Hija
This time your donations during the holy and festive days were used for one more of our projects – helping the gravely ill. You had been donating for 10 days of Zul-Hija on medicines, clothes and gifts for our charges in various clinics in Moscow. From 18 to 29 of November you donated altogether 302.000 rubles (approx. $10100)!
We kept up the last year’s tradition and you took active part in the action on Arafa day which took place in Europeyski shopping mall. During the action 67.553 rubles were collected. And we are happy to tell you that the main philanthropists were students of Moscow universities!
Your donations have already been distributed for support Vakha Buzurtanov, a staunch long-time patient of various Moscow clinics, 4-years-old Magomed Epsirov who has only his granddad and grandma to bring him up, little Ira Kuzheleva, Kamil Umarov. Your donations will be also spent on medical treatment of other children and teenagers in the nearest future.
We’d like you to know that without your support in these days we wouldn’t be in a position to give the destitute the feeling that somebody thinks and cares about them. With all that we must keep carrying on our activities because 25 million people in Russia live below the poverty level. Together with you we are ready to step on the path of fighting the poverty and hunger.
One more action by Solidarity Foundation, of a more enlightening kind, took place at Europeyski shopping mall on the eve of Eid Al-Adha. We were giving away leaflets and collecting donations. Our volunteers, eager to break the mythical bloodthirsty image of this Muslim holiday built up by mass-media, have tried to tell as many people as possible about the humanitarian essence of this Day of Mercy.
